Chicken Sopas for the Reader's Bowl

"Life is a Joyride, Enjoy the Trip"

OK, you're right. The quote didn't go like that, but it was a good segway to my first summer story, where we are literally going to get this show on the road. I know I'm underaged to get behind the wheel. Still, that didn't stop my older sister from getting me to drive.

It all started as a trip to the subdivision gate. My sister was just going to fetch this helper of ours & I went along with her. On our way back, my sister stopped near the road & told me she that wanted me to drive. At first, I was shocked & didn't want to, but she already went out of the car to get to the passenger's seat. It left me no choice but to move to the driver's seat.

Ate'
s... They're so smart. Argh.

Then the fun begins. Since it was my first time to actually drive, the trip back was really well, a unique ride home. I kept on pressing the brakes too hard & so to the gas. Whenever my sister said, "Brake!", I would just step on it just for a second then she would say, "Brake!" again and the car would just keep on stopping then going then stopping & going. It was a crazy experience. Thank goodness we arrived home alive!

Now Serving Chicken Sopas

I have always been fascinated with blogging. The thought of expressing myself through the keyboard sounds exciting. Plus, I think it’s great practice if I want to become a writer someday. So finally, I decided to start creating my first ever blog. Here it is... Chicken Sopas for the Reader’s Bowl!

I know what you're thinking. Just what is up with the site's name? Bakit naman Chicken Sopas?

Well, it all started today, June 18, 2006. My family & I needed to attend a funeral all the way at Tarlac.

So we were there... Just there. No, I’m serious. There was really nothing to do! My sis tried to study, but the hot and noisy funeral was the worst place to. As for me, I had a laptop with internet access - but there was no signal to do so. We were bored and very.

I ended up asking my sister if she had any nice names for my blog. I told her that I wanted something like Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul, unique and witty. She looked around for some inspiration & saw bulalo on the table. Poof! "Bulalo for the Reader's Neurons", she suggested. I thought it was a funny joke, but a bad title.

That was the start of her giving of ideas. She said things like “Chicken Pie for the Blogger’s Neurons” and even “Chicken Soap for the Bather’s Sole”. I had probably had enough of a good laugh but still wasn't contented. Then, her last suggestion was probably the perfect one. It fitted my audience since Chicken Soup isn’t that poular with Filipinos. More importantly, it fitted me as this blog contains all the ingredients of my being and every little post gives you a taste of who I am. Indeed that was Chicken Sopas for the Reader's Bowl.

I’m so thankful for the funeral that happened. No, I'm not happy because the person died, but because that's what started it all.

Thanks to Ate Kaye for it wasn’t for her, this blog would have been called ifyouhavenothingtodothengotothis.blogspot.com.

Thanks to Lourdes who finally gave me the push I needed and put through all the blog questions I ask her every 5 minutes.

At last, my first blog is up. From now on, Chicken Sopas for the Reader’s Bowl is served. Enjoy!
