Chicken Sopas for the Reader's Bowl

S.O.S.

This quarter in English, we are required to read a classic novel entitled Lord of the Flies. No, the book isn't about some god that has the ability to control flies. This here has not even a single spec of magic dust in it - No dragons, ogres, magic spells & most definiely no weird kid with a scar on his forehead. The book's all about a gang of young boys who get stuck on a deserted island. They have to do something in the island before the island does something to them. Oops, too late...

I was going to read the novel one month before the Book Review Week. But, then, I totally forgot about the whole thing! I realized I should start reading just this Thursday... when the Book Review Week begins this coming week! I said to myself I'll start by tomorrow, Friday. After doing some calculations, I set myself to read 61 pages a day in order to finish it in just 3 days. Friday came & apparentlly, I did not get to read not even a single page! Change of plans. I now need to read 91 and a half pages of the book in a day to get done with it by the weekend. But, something inteferred in my reading plans once again! I did not know our family had to go to Taguig 'coz my mom had this business get-together. If that wasn't enough of a ruiner, I totally forgot about the "concert" we were to go to at night! I couldn't resist as my sis already bought the tickets & no one was to go with her. I really had fun that day, but there was such a drastic exchange for that. Now, I have to finish the 183-page book in just one day - today! It still didn't stop there. We needed to go to the mall a while ago. My mom said that we would just take a short time there but we ended up staying there almost the whole day!

Ack. Now, this is me, struggling for tomorrow's start of the book review that will last for one week. Just how will I finish reading this novel?! Hmm.. Internet book summary, anyone? (Ms. Zeta, if you're reading this right now, that was just joke.)

Forget about the trapped kids. I'm the one who really needs help!

Back

It's been days since I last posted here. All 'cause a lot of stuff has been keeping my hands full. Just like now for instance, vegetables are driving me crazy! My Chemistry groupmates and I are currently stressing over this herbal recipe presentation happening tomorrow. (Nagkakagulo na nga kami dito eh! Hehe.) And just before that, I had to help my sister out with her eggplant-themed thesis thing by sending her the pictures she needs. Here's a little sample of it:

There are actually 2 people in the photo: my Ate Kaye who is the one with the lab gown & I, hiding in the pic. See if you can spot me. :P

To all you Filipinos out there, ang lakas ng ulan, 'no?! Our classes even got suspended earlier because of the heavy rains. And now, one of my classmates even said that according to the news, there will be no classes tomorrow. If that's true, that'll be cool since we would be safe from the winds & the rain & all that calamity things.. Ah, heck, who am I kidding. I'll be happy because my groupmates and I can finally stop panicing, and have more time to prepare for our Chem presentation.

Yey!

One High School Musical

No, this isn't about that Disney Channel Original Movie.

Still, I've got to say, I'm amazed with the impact of this film. Our generation's Saturday Night Fever, perhaps?

Oh, and before you ask..

Yes, I do think Vanessa is pretty.

Anyways, about my post, let me take a break at the summer story-telling thing to give you an update on what's happening in my life. I named this One High School Musical because our class now sounds like one. Thanks to 2 of our teachers, that is.

Reason #1 is our math teacher, Sir Foman. This guy has an interesting rule: There will be no yawning in his class. When he catches you doing so, you have to sing in front of the whole class.

Trust me. It was so hard to refrain yourself from yawning... especially when it's math. A lot of people had already been caught. That included myself.

I still remember what happened. He was just lecturing when I suddenly made this big yawn. For that moment, I forgot about everything - even the fact that Sir and I were looking at each other. By the time I was back in the real world, he had already pointed at me. I ended up singing or more like reciting Love Moves in Mysterious Ways.

My singing career didn't stop there, though. Sir Norman, our Filipino teacher, was just having a class discussion. In the middle of it all, he suddenly said, "At Kevin, kakantahin mo ang Bituing Walang Ningning."

I couldn't tell if he was joking or not. When I found out that he was, it was too late. It was already the day to perform. I had already taken him seriously, even having a copy of the lyrics and some practice days before. (Why, Kevin, why?!) Sir announced my name and I went up the platform to sing. (Ugh, I hate myself.) Even though it was originally a joke, Sir still told me to sing. (I just had to came prepared...) Just read the first parts, but when it was time for the chorus, I started to sing.

From there until the end of it, my classmates were all trying to stop themsleves from laughing, but they just couldn't! Fumiya even turned red & was about to cry. During recess, I asked for some opinions. One said that it was ok. The other told me that he was so nervous for my self. He could tell both my voice and knees actually shaking. (Was it? I don't recall.) Mhericon also said that it was ok, but when she told the story to others, she said it as if it was my most embarassing moment!

I really couldn't tell why there was such laughing during my performance. Was I that bad of a singer? I soon found out the probable main reason. It was all because of the way I sang the first line of the chorus. Supposedly, it was, "Balutin mo ako ng hiwaga ng iyong pagmagmamahal''. I sang it as "Baaaaaaaaaaaaaluuuutin.." Well, how was I suppose to know such a thing? Because of that, I would hear such a mocking reanactment every now and then. ''Everybody! Baaaaaaaaaluuuuutin...''

And since I took what Sir Norman said seriously, he decided to make it a tradition that every week, someone has to perform. This week, we're looking forward to see Raymond breakdance.

High school life nga naman oh... =)
