Chicken Sopas for the Reader's Bowl

5 Notes to My Freshman Self

1. Isa na nga lang ang building at meron na nga lang siyang dalawang sides - EAST at WEST. So, tell me, Kevin, why do you still manage to get lost? You're extremely lucky that when you get lost, you're already late. And, even luckier that when you finally find the room, your professor isn't there yet.

2. When you're in National Bookstore already and you've finally found the book you need, don't leave it from your sight, especially when it's the only copy left in that bookstore. NEVER mind if the cover's already crumpled, and NEVER leave the bookstore to get some time to text your mother if you'll still get it. I think you missed the words, "the book you need" and "ONLY copy left". Ayan tuloy. You end up lining up to ask the Customer's Service lady (again) about the book, only to find out that the girl in front of you in the line is the same girl who's holding the remaining book you need. You can't just grab the book from her and make a run for it, now can you?

3. You have never commuted alone from your school to your home... ever. Let's change that some time this year.

4. Back at high school, Thursday always seemed to be the toughest day of the week. Fast forward to college, and it's still the same case. Who knew living out a day trying not to see or overhear which David won American Idol before watching the missed episode that night would be that hard?

5. Be thankful. Almost everywhere you go, you see someone you know, either a neighbor, former schoolmate or a friend. It's also a good thing that in all of your classes, you have at least one batchmate from high school to help you get through the big adjustment.

So, I just had my first days in college this past week. I must say, you've just got to love college and all the weirdness that comes along with it.

The Chronicles of I & The Girl Who Must Not Be Named

Some time this week, I finally obeyed my mom and cleaned up my room. While I was at it doing this miracle, I rediscovered a number of items from my younger years. One of which was my old diary, journal, or whatever you want to call it, which I used to keep when I was still a kid. The pages turned me back to 2000, where I would write about useless rants and raves.

The events in it that gave me the most laughs were a series of entries about my old crush - a girl I would like to call as The Girl Who Must Not Be Named. I remember having a really big crush on this person. And, right now, I'm laughing at myself for documenting those times with her that 'made my day'. I'll post some of the lines off some of the entries. Read on, and follow a boy and his wild imagination that she actually liked him.

. . .And did you know that she keeps on high-fiving my hand if we both
had a correct answer. . . For short, she kinda likes me. (I'm not sure.) BYE!!!!!

Dec. 13, 2001 7:20 PM

. . . I was with Thalia (girl), Kevin Lopez (guy), and her. I borrowed the
scotch tape of Ms. Mercy (our principal) & used it & used it & used
it until it was empty. . . THEN, IT WAS TIME. We went to the office and told the truth then Ms. Mercy said to change it on Tuesday. Then, SHE HUGGED
Thalia, then ME. I was so flattered then only high-fived Kevin Lopez. WHAT A NICE ENDING.

Feb. 4, 2002 9:01 PM

. . . We were in the Planetarium inside & me & her were the
last to come in & the Planetarium went dark. She was
scared & hugged me on the arms and when it got darker, the hugging got
tighter & I was so happy. . .

Haha. Ang bata-bata ko pa, ganoon na iniisip ko.

Feb. 15, 2002

. . . I brought my Roller Shoes & me & her were at the tennis court & she borrowed my Roller Shoes & we had lots of fun & I
wore my Roller Shoes again. So, it was like we held hands but we used our feet.
That's all. . .

Ano raw? ''we held hands but we used our feet...'' LOL. Ang corny noon, ah.

Feb. 16, 2002

. . . Here's veryx100 good news: Me & her were
watching the Kinder & suddenly, she held my hands at the back of my back
& I held her hands for 4 seconds. Yikes, I was so happy. . .

"At the back of my back"... Bakit, may front ba ang back? At talagang bilang na bilang ko yung seconds na hinawakan ko kamay niya! Haha. How lovestruck was I?

Anyways, here we are now, 6 years after. I'm still single and doing well. And that Girl Who Must Not Be Named? She now has a boyfriend - and a child from that guy, may I just add.

LOL. Love... It's a crazy thing.

A Summer Update, Yet Again

It's one of those weeks where you have to be really creative if you want to survive the boredom of being in your house all day. There were those days, though, where I went out and did something way more productive than just slacking off.
Just this past week, I caught up with my high school friends at Enchanted Kingdom. It's nice to see your old friends after quite some time. Too bad the picture did not do this mini-reunion any good at all. Let's blame my one friend for that. Hi, Kenneth! Hehe.
Also, I finally got braces. And if you really know me or if you have seen me already, I'd bet that you're finally rejoicing for my funky teeth right now. And, with glasses, braces, and a computer-related college course, I may just qualify as a nerd. :P
I'd be glad to tell you, too, that lately, I've been successful so far on that cutting down my internet hours. Hopefully, it'll continue, and I know that it will since college's going to keep me busy, which, by the way, starts on May 21.
May 21. O_O
That's next, next week. Guess I just have to enjoy the remaining days of my summer.
